I updated Word and Office and now my NEW WORD DOCUMENTS have a grid covering
the page. How do I get rid of this grid thing and return to a blank page

In Word, display the Drawing toolbar if it isn't already
displayed (View | Toolbars | Drawing), and click on Draw | Grid |
uncheck the "Display gridlines on screen" box | OK.
