grid on word format

When I open my Microsoft Word to type a document, there is a grid that covers
the entire typing area (small squares covering the whole page). I can type
over them, but it is very annoying. I have no idea how it got on there and I
can't figure out how to remove it. I have closed it and reopened it and it
is still there.

If you have Word 2003 or earlier, click View > Toolbars > Drawing. On the
Drawing toolbar, click the Draw button at the left end and choose Grid from
the menu. In the dialog, uncheck "Display gridlines on screen".

If you have Word 2007, click the View tab of the ribbon, and uncheck
Gridlines in the Show/Hide group.
