word trys to open all files downloaded off the internet

Sometimes when I download a file off the internet mainly homework from school
word can read it and my computer will not let any other program open it they
are simple txt files
 
Goto the directory where you download the file from, rick click on the file
and select open with then select the program you wish to open it from
