We are using Office XP and Windows XP
We used to put all out organisation wide templates in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates
but after adding service packs to Office or Windows, we found that we could
only get them to work without errors by putting them in
C:\Documents and Settings\Default\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
We are now about to move from a Novell network (everyone logged in to
Windows as default) to Windows active directory, we nshould be putting them
in
C:\Documents and Settings\senglish\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
where senglish is my user name.
These templates have a lot of code behind them.
When I create a new document based on one of the templates and then send it
to user vgreen, it tries to find the template in
C:\Documents and Settings\senglish\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
whereas the template is actually in
C:\Documents and Settings\vgreen\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates so no
floating toolbars etc work.
What is the solution please?
WE would prefer not to put them on a network share as Workgroup templates
because we have several folders of templates which appear on different tabs
in File - New and also because this makes them available to network users
offline.
Thanks in anticipation for any clues.
Stephen

Get vgreen to attach his copy of the template to the document via the
Tools>Templates and Add-ins dialog.

Hi Doug
Thank you for this. I have already shown vgreen how to do this! The
problem is the 200+ others who are less computer literate than vgreen! I was
hoping someone would have a better solution. I guess I will have to create
one myself!
