Word Templates Access to Live Templates?

My work PC was just upgraded to use Windows 7, so Word 2007 was
reinstalled.

A few years ago, when we initially installed Word 2007, I was
researching something about templates in Word and found a deeper view
into a group of Microsoft's standard templates. I asked our IT people
to make that view possible and they did. Now, however, I am back to
having just the standard view into templates and I can't remember what
to ask IT for to get the view into the richer selection of templates.

To reach that view, I would click the Microsoft button > New. Then a
pane would show up that showed me the most recently used templates on
the right of the pane. Those templates would appear as big clickable
icons...the icons were large enough to provide a preview. I could
scroll through the list of most recently used templates to select
them. On the left of the pane were Microsoft Office template
categories (e.g., for letters, memos, calendars, etc.).

Can anyone tell from my description what that is feature called? I
need to clue our IT people into this so that they can find it and
install it for me. Thank you.

That's exactly what happens when I go Office button > New. (I just
opened Word, so a blank document was already showing, but it did the
same thing with an existing document open.) I get a long, long list on
the left of templates, but it opens with the top entry on the list
chosen (Blank and recent). So maybe they intentionally disabled a
feature so that you _can't_ use existing templates??

That's fascinating to me. Can you see anything in that window that
might identify it? That way, I might be able to look that up for our
IT people so that they know what to look for and install. I wish I
would have remembered about this myself so that I could have taken a
screenshot/recorded more information before they migrated me! Any
identifying information that you might find would be useful! Even if
you could send me the list of the first items on that left side of the
window--I seem to remember that they're template names or categories.
But I might be able to google that and see if that leads me to more
info.

THANK YOU!

It's simply the panel that opens when you choose "New" under the
Office buttion (rather than pressing Ctrl-N).

Solved! You have to enable live content (Microsoft Office Online) to
use online templates. I think our IT people edited my system registry
to set this level of access.

Thanks, Peter, for the help. I appreciate it!

I don't know about that, since I don't know what "live content" or
"Office Online" are! Is this different from simply downloading a
template from somewhere? Or have I been speaking prose since 2006?
