Word stop functioning properly

My Word has 2 problems, it will allow me to open or start a document if the
software is open, but my mouse won't work on the document screen, but it will
on the tool bar? and then secondly when you try and close the program it will
stop working and shut down, this also happens when I try and open a document
if the program isn not open. This has been going on for 2 weeks and I have
tried EVERYTHING! I have uninstalled and reinstalled and searched for updates
and help online, this is my last resort.

I would look at the printer driver issues first.

Hi Brian,

I tried all these with no joy. The printer driver is installed on my
computer and I checked the Task Manager and nothing is still running. The
other options don't really apply to my issue.

Word 2007?
Delete or rename the Word data key to olddata. -
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data
