word spacing

Is there a way to control word spacing, i.e. to condense
or expand a line of text without condensing or expanding
the space between the letters in the actual words?

Martin, Highlight the text you wish to expand or collapse. Then go to the Menu bar, click on Format, Font, Choose the Character spacing tab and change what you want from there. You can space it as far as you want between the letters rather than have the gaps between the words as if you were justifying something. It will keep equal spacing
