Word shuts down when printing

Hi all,

I have 2 users that have problems with printing documents in 2003. The
problem is random and it does not happen every time. When they try to print,
WORD hangs or shuts down. If they try the same document again it prints
fine. One of the users has the same symptoms in Excel. Other users that are
configured exactly the same way, printing to the same printer do not have
the problem.

Does anybody have an idea where this is coming from?

The printer driver is the most likely culprit.

You're going to do yourself an injury if you work from the supposition that
the problem is inexplicable. Yes it's conceivable, albeit unlikely, that the
problem is caused from within Office: particularly if the problem manifests
with both Word and Excel -- when printing, these apps don't have much in
common except the printer driver. So, as originally suggested, the printer
driver is the most likely culprit. Also by far the easiest to check: on the
troubled machines, delete the printer and reinstall; see what happens.

I really appreciate your answers. As a network guy I'm not to familiar with
the inner workings of Office. I will start with deleting and reinstalling
the printers and then work through the 2 papers.
