Word regularly pauses

I have Microsoft Word 2000 and I have opened some of my word documents and it
appears that word regularly pauses for a few seconds at a time. It does this
every few seconds. It makes typing in word documents impossble and printing
difficult. Eventually word basically locks up eventually because of these
delays. Any ideas? Word challenge? Printer Challenge?

CPU challenge? Try clicking on Tools | Options | Spelling & Grammar |
uncheck the "Check spelling as you type" and "Check grammar as you type"
boxes | OK. You can run spellcheck and grammarcheck at any time by
pressing the F7 key.
