word recovery

I had typed a 3 page paper and then i went upstairs to get a snack and when i
came back down my computer had somehow restarted. Is there any way that i
can recover this file if i never saved it.

Unfortunately, no, there is nothing to recover. :-(

Perhaps in the future it would be a good idea to "save before you snack".

It is also a good idea not to allow Windows to automatically update itself
without your permission, which is the most likely reason for the restart.
