Word program will not work

When I try to log in to the Word program I get a
message "This applicatrion has failed to starat because
MSO97.DLL was not found. Reinstalling the application
may fix this problem.
I then try to reinstall and get the message that I need
to give the 20 didget number on the certificate of
authenticity label. If this the sticker on the bottom of
the box I find to single number that consist of 20 digets.
Can anyone help me,

This would be the number that came with your Word /office disk

The MSO97.DLL is on the Office-CD and you can simply copy it from here
to the OFFICE installation folder on the HDD.
