Word prints blank pages when I set 'pages per sheet'

Hi,

When I try to print 2 pages per sheet from Word 2000 it sometimes "prints"
only blank pages.
For example, if I want to print 20 pages on 10 sheets I get 10 blank sheets
nothing printed on them. If I print the same document again, usually it
works properly and prints what I wanted.
It seems absolutely random for me when this occurs, but it's quite frequent.

The printer is an HP Laserjet 1200 (also tried with Laserjet 1300, same
happened).

What can be the problem?

In the HP User Guide with the somewhat un-intuitive name "c00225788.pdf"
there is a reference to empty pages - I haven't read the note itself yet,
I'm in the process of printing selected items at the moment, but the ref. is
to page 407 if I'm not misstaken.

If you cannot find it, write back and I'll look it up for you.
