Word or Publisher Proposals from BCM

We need a way to generate proposals for our products. Currently, the only way
with BCM is to start a mail merge form Word or a marketing campaign from BCM.

Can we have a method for sending a Word proposal from the BCM opportunity
screen or the business contact screen. Ideally, I would like to select the
Word template and automatically fill in the customer info, log the
opportunity and e-mail a pdf of the porposal or fax via Venali or other
online fax service. I would like to be able to do this in conjunction with
entering my sales call notes...

Thanks!

Hi Jeff

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, BCM does not currently support
mail merge through Business Contacts or Opportunity, but we will consider it
in future releases.

You can however incorporate Business Contact information through mail merge
from Marketing Campaign. This can be done by using the following steps:
1. Launch Word E-mail merge from a Marketing Campaign. Word should be
launched at this point.
2. In Word, select a list of recipients for your mail merge. (This can be
done by using the Select Recipients button, or following the steps of the
mail merge wizard (I recommend this option).)
3. After you have selected the desired recipients, the 'Insert Merge Field'
button will be enabled at the top. You can choose desired fields to be added
to your mail merge template.
4. You can preview your template with the customized fields by following the
steps given in the mail merge wizard.

Thanks.

Jeff:

They didn't do a good job of generating quotes in this version of BCM but
there is a way. Using Office Accounting, you can convert an Opportunity
into a Quote, and then output from there but it then keeps the Quote as a
record in Accounting. Continuing the track, if the Quote turns into a real
deal, you can convert that into an Invoice or Order. It's both handy and a
kluge-y way of doing it.

HTH,
Lon
