Word Options, Advanced, In line with text not changing default pas

In Word 2007, I go to Word Options, Advanced, Cut, copy, and paste,
Insert/paste picture as, and select In line with text, OK. However, resetting
this default in not working. Pasting pictures come in In front of text. This
unexpected behavior is recent. A few days ago, I was able to change this
default without issue. Thanks in advance.

This can happen if the Data key (in the registry) becomes corrupted. Delete
the Data key, and Word will create a new one. In the registry, it's here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word

Herb--for some reason I cannot reply to your post and I was not able to click
and view it easily. I had to double-click it. In any case, I'll reply here.

Deleting the the Word Options registry key resolved it. Deleting the Word
data key did not change things. I found the steps at
