Hi Paul,

You didn't mention the version of Word you're using, but you can use
Alt, T, O to get to Word options

If in Word 2007 then choose 'Advanced' then scroll down to the Cut, Copy and Paste choices to change the default to 'inline with
text' for
the default setting in 'Insert/paste pictures as'

If in earlier Word 2007 when in Options, choose the 'Edit' tab to make the same default selection.

For already inserted pictures you can right click (Word 2007) or double click (earlier versions) on the picture and change the text
wrapping layout of the picture to 'inline with text'.

===========
I have always been able to insert clipart directly into the document I was
working on--by that, I mean that after pasting, all the text after the cursor
would drop down to make room for the clipart. Lately, I've noticed that every
picture I insert seems to hover over the document and text, and I have to
manually move the text around to properly place the clipart into the document
itself. I suppose I can post a screenshot if what I'm saying isn't clear. Is
there a workaround or some option I've inadvertently checked that could have
caused this?>>

Unfortunately, Word 2000 does not offer the option to choose your default
insert/paste format, but Insert | Picture should default to In Line With
Text--not sure about Paste. In any case, if the pasted picture is wrapped,
click on it to get the Picture toolbar, click on the Text Wrapping button
(dog icon), and choose the wrapping style to In Line With Text.

OK, thanks--Insert>Picture placed clipart directly into the document, and not
"on top" of it. I can always use that. Just for the record (keep in mind I'm
using Word 2000), the In line with text option wasn't available when I
clicked on the dog icon. I was able to set it with another icon on that
toolbar (Format Picture), as well as Format>Picture from the menu. In the
new tab, I selected the layout tab, and In Line with Text was an option.

I see a lot of features are similiar with Word 2000 (and 2002), but it sure
seems like they changed a lot of the UI/paths to access teh various features.
Oh well.

OK all is well now. Thanks a lot for your time.
