David

Platform XP Pro, XP Office, both 2003 with updates.
When I open a save or save as, by ANY of the usual methods, then the usual
drop (explorer type) box appears with the default folder location etc.
Usually I want to save or save as in a different location, but when I click
on the folder location tab, IE try to go to another folder, then the program
either WORD or Excel, etc, just freezes and after a short while then the
program manager "NOT RESPONDING" fires up, click whatever and then the
office app simply closes.
In a few words, you cannot save where you want to.
Now I am aware of the ideas on the MS06-015 & Kb 918165 patches as being the
trouble. I have checked the registry out and added GUID's to /cache. All to
no avail. I do not have any HP gear.

Any ideas please
Dave.

have you tried "detect and repair" under the help menu ?

Try this if you have a 3rd Party Firewall, go into the programs tab and block
1) Windows EXPLORER from accessing the internet. 2) BLOCK Word from accessing
the net as well, I have experienced that I can still copy and past from the
internet into Word while blocked. If you experience problems with copy & past
with Word then re-enable Word to access the net

Good Luck
