Word not copying formats to new documents

I am having a problem copying anything formatted in Word 2000. When I Paste
Special, it tells me the Source is Unknown and only allows me to paste as
Unformatted Text or Unformatted Unicode Text.

I am having a problem copying anything formatted in Word 2000. When I Paste
Special, it tells me the Source is Unknown and only allows me to paste as
Unformatted Text or Unformatted Unicode Text.

The only time I've ever seen this is when using a Virtual Machine, and the
focus moves out of the VM.

If you're seeing this on a "normal" system, then you probably have some
third-party software interfering with the clipboard. If you boot Windows in
Safe Mode can you copy/paste normally in Word?
