Word is randomly paginating my document.

I have a document that is continously adding pages (1,000's of them) and
every time I try to work with the file Word crashes.

Sounds like a corruption problem of some sort. You might try the link below
(stolen from one of Anne Troy's posts):

If just the one doc has the problem, you might also try copying all but the
last ¶ and pasting into a new blank document. OTOH, if this is happening in
other docs you may need to uninstall/reinstall Word.

We recently had such a document. Track changes was turned on and the user
was moving text with a footnote in it. For some reason, every time they
moved the text, Word started looping and adding thousands of pages to the
document. We were able to go back to the original document, and move text
only up to the point of the footnote. Good luck.
