"word is not installed" error message

When I try to open a new email in Outlook 2003 I get an error message that
says:
MS Word is set to be your email editor. However Word is unavailable, not
installed, or is not the same version as Outlook......"

I have Word 2003 installed on my PC and it works fine. This is a new
problem that has arisen after 18 months of trouble free operation.
Can anyone help?

Have you applied the Office 2003 Service Packs?
