Using Word as the default editor in outlook 2003

I have a client that is using Outlook 2003. When she tries to open an email
she receives the following message. "Microsoft word is set to be your email
editor. However, word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same
version of outlook. The outlook email editor will be used instead."

I have installed Word 2003 from the same install CD as outlook 2003. How can
i fix this so that the client can use word 2003 to create new emails?

Locate normal.dot and rename it to .old when Outlook and Word are closed.
Then first load Word and then load Outlook and try again.

Hi there,

I'm having the same issue as is described in the initial post. However, this problem only occurs with emails sent by a certain customer via an AOL account. I think it has something to do with how AOL forms an HTML email and Word handles this HTML. I've done a Detect & Repair but that didn't help at all. Any ideas?
