Word Freezes upon opening the program. How to fix this?

Hi there,

When I tried opening Word, it opens and freezes...saying "Not Responding"
for a long time. Is this pretty common? Has anyone experience this issue, and
if you know how to troubleshoot this? Any help or advise would be greatly
helpful!!!
