Word Documents vs Wordpad Documents

All of the documents I create and save in Word show up as Wordpad
Documents...how can I stop this?

Check your file associations.

It sounds like the file associations are for WordPad instead of Word.
Go to Start/Run and use the following command to recreate your file
associations:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
