Word Documents don't display correctly in Preview

When I right-click on a Word document that is an attachment to the email and
choose Preview, the resulting display is skewed. This is the case whether
viewing in the reading pane or opening the email and previewing it there. The
document is a single page but the middle part of the page is displayed to the
right of the top and bottom part of the page even though it displays correcly
in Word.

Any ideas?

It's a shame I can't post the images here because it's hard to imagine it
without seeing it. The Preview feature is pretty useless for a Word document.

Obvious workaround.

But if it's not intended to work 100%, the feature is pointless. Word is a
Microsoft Office application and if anything should work in Outlook Preview,
it should be Word. What if Print Preview worked this way, then I would have
to Print the document to see what it would look like because Print Preview is
not intended to be 100%. A bug's a bug.

Thanks for the answer but I'll go for what's behind door number 2.

Sorry, didn't mean for that to sound as "smart***" as it sounded. I'm really
hoping that Microsoft will read this, recognize there's a problem and fix it.
Hope I'm not expecting too much.

Well, the big difference between the Print Preview and the Attachment
Preview is that the Print Preview is all about showing the correct layout;
the text can be illegible in the Print Preview (which is true most of the
cases unless you have a big screen with a high resolution). Even if the the
previewer is not 100% accurate it is not pointless; The Attachment Preview
is all about being able to read part of it so you can decide if you really
need to open the document. If it was to open in a 100% accurate view then
you would require a much bigger space to work in, horizontal scrollbars or a
magnifying glass to be able to read the text. This would also slow down the
previewer and then it would be pointless as in the same time you could open
up the full application.

These are completely separate functions with completely different needs
which is why they are different from the main Word application. That is also
why there are different layouts in Word; Print layout, web layout, full
screen reading, print preview and also a preview layout.

No hope of that. This newsgroup isn't an official support channel and it's
rare that anyone from Microsoft visits here.
