word document is frozen

I was typing a word document and got up. When I came back there was a "9"
after one of the lines. I must have hit something when I got up. The document
is frozen. I need this material and do not feel like retyping three hours
worth of work. Can anyone help? Thanks.
 
If Word has stopped responding you must close it via the Task Manager. If you
then can't open the document, try Open and Repair.
