I need to know how to change MS Word docs that are saved into My Documents
using IE, back into Word docs. I am using MS Office 2000 Professional. These
docs were downloaded from an office computer to a home computer before the
installation of MS Office.
Any help is appreciated

Hello pctutor
I need to know how to change MS Word docs that are saved into My Documents
using IE, back into Word docs. I am using MS Office 2000 Professional. These
docs were downloaded from an office computer to a home computer before the
installation of MS Office.

there is no "IE format" (for Word documents). The documents that have
been downloaded are either *.doc/*.docx documents, or they are something
else (HTML documents that might have been created in Word, PDF, RTF,
etc.). What exactly is the file extension of the files?

If they are *.doc, then Word should recognize them directly after
installation (no matter whether the documents or Word itself was earlier
on the system). [Technically, it's actually the OS (Windows) recognizing
that these document types are to be opened in Word.] Otherwise, you
might have to reset the file type.

If the documents are something else, then you can try opening them, say,
from Word's File | Open dialog (or open Word, close any document and
drag'n'drop the documents directly into the Word application window).
