WORD doc sent to user on VISTA but can't open

Hi, I'm sending a WORD doc from Windows XP to a user using WORD on VISTA but
the VISTA user can not open the doc; does anyone know why?
Can't figure this out on my end.

Depending on the versions of Word used on each machine, you may need to install a
converter/compatibility pack.
This one will allow for 2007 Word, Excel and PowerPoint file formats to be opened,
edited and saved when using Office XP or 2003. Please read the entire overview
section just below the download section for important information before downloading
installing.

Why ask HERE? WORD and VISTA have NOTHING to do with WinXP.

Perhaps you should ask in a group that has something to do with your
programs in question?

Can you be a bit clearer. Can he not open the attatchment from Outlook
Express, or is he saving the document and his version of Word won't open it?

Any messages from his end.

Please help us to help you. What does "can not open the doc" mean?
What happens when he tries? If he gets an error message, please quote
it verbatim.

Any differences between Word and Vista are irrelevant, but differences
between versions of Word may not be. What version of Word are you
using? What version is he using? What is the extension (the characters
after the dot) portion of the filename you are sending?
