Word display problem

I have a Word document, created at work in Word 98, that displays and prints incorrectly in Word XP.

The document has 1" L/R margins. When it is opened on my home computer in Word XP, it displays correctly when first opened, then changes immediately to the incorrect view as follows: In print-layout-view/page-width, as well as in print-preview, the text of the document displays as 6.5" wide according to the ruler, but the paper displays as about 10" wide. When I print the document, the text measures about 5.5" wide with a wide margin on the right, even though the L/R margins are still set to 1" and the page size is set to 8.5 x 11, portrait.

I reinstalled Word XP to make sure that wasn't the problem. I didn't expect it to help, because I have other Word 98 documents emailed from work that display and print correctly.

Any ideas how to correct this document to display correctly in XP?

Most likely you have Track Changes enabled, and Word is allowing space for
the "balloons."
