Word deletions

My IT guy swapped out my computera couple of weeks ago.
Since then, I cannot delete text by highlighting it and
using the delete key. When I do, this message appears at
the bottom of the screen -- "Delete block? No (Yes)" The
deletion will not take place until I type "Y". Seems like
a security or permissions issue. Any idea how to remove
this setting?
 
Click the "Tools" menu, select "Options", on the "General" TAB, uncheck the
two options relating to WordPerfect.
