Word default page

I have windows XP with office 2000. Whenever I open word
from desktop, it opens up with an old letter I wrote.
When I click for new blank letter, the same letter pops
up. Not sure how to get rid of this letter so the default
is a blank letter, or when I open word to get the normal
default. Can use help?
