word break problem

using Word 2003. Words don't wrap up and breaks at the end of a line. (e.g. his---break to next line at the end of a line-
tory).

If they're breaking at valid break points (as in your illustration), it may
be that you have automatic hyphenation enabled. If they're breaking without
a hyphen and in inappropriate places (as I suspect), this is a symptom of
