How do I eliminate line breaks from text pasted?

A formatting problem
I downloaded a book in text format. When opened with Word each individual
line is a paragraph, i.e. there are no paragraphs but just lines. In Word
2003 there was a formatting dialogue that facilitated the formatting of such
odd text to eliminate line breaks and transform the text formant into normal
Word text in which paragraphs end at a full stop, not at the end of each
line. Where is the equivalent of that in Word 7?

For the general case, see
http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/CleanWebText.htm. Those procedures
are the same for all versions of Word.

The dialog you referred to was probably the Format > AutoFormat
dialog, together with the options in Tools > AutoCorrect Options >
AutoFormat that control what changes it makes.

In Word 2007, that dialog isn't on the ribbon, but a button to display
it is available to be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. In the Office
button > Word Options > Customize dialog, set the category to Commands
Not In the Ribbon, and add the "AutoFormat..." button. (If you always
select "AutoFormat now" in the dialog, you can save a couple of clicks
by adding the AutoFormat Now button instead.)
