I am having trouble finding a way to add extra spacing in between a numbered
list - yet keeping the paragraph together, for example

1. This is a list
(extra space)

2. This is a list and I want to keep
this line with the top line
(extra space)

3. Does this make sense?

Use a spaced paragraph style for your numbered style and at the end of the
first line in section 2 press shift enter to form a line break within the
paragraph, so no space added.
