Word 2007 Shortcuts

Hi. I'm a heavy shortcut user, preferring to use them instead of the old
dropdown boxes now known as ribbons and mouse.

However, I'm rather upset to see some of my heavily used shortcuts are now
"gone". While I have most of my favorites memorized - I would like to see
the old drop down box at least open up and show me a list of options.

For ex. Insert a column break ----- Alt-I, B for break and so on.

Now all I get for Alt-I - is a message that I should just carry on with my
2003 shortcut or cancel. Doesn't give me an optional list of whats
available, etc.

Does ANYONE have a list of shortcuts that ARE readily available for 2007???

Thank you sooooo much!

Thanks, but no, in fact I commented back to MS on how I thought they were
missing things - plus the listing them under individual links could have been
done better.

I know several years ago some of the MVP's had links to preexisting shortcut
lists.

Thanks though!

You can assign your own keyboard shortcut to the InsertBreak command
in Customize/Keyboard. This will bring up the old dialog box where
you can press the underlined letter for the type of break you need.

I guess I missed your point. You might also consider doing the following:

To generate a list of built-in (not customized) keyboard shortcuts in a new
document run the built-in Word command

View tab, Macros group, Macros, View Macros, Word commands in Macros in
drop-down list

Click ListCommands, click the Current Keyboard Settings radio button and
click OK

In the new document, the commands are in a table; you can then sort them
however you'd like and print it out for reference.

Hi Pat,

Many of the Word 2003 shortcuts continue to work in Word 2007.

For example:

Alt, I, B
will bring up the same dialog box to insert a column break in both versions. It won't do an interactive 'walk' for you where the
command is in a different spot in the Word 2007 Ribbon (for example, Column Breaks are now part of the Page Layout Tab. The Word
2007 keyboard command would be Alt, P, B

In addition to the information available in F1 (Help) under 'keyboard shortcuts' You may find this download useful:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/CD102151081033.aspx
also in F1 (help) type in Command locations and you'll also find a Reference was/is spreadsheet in the 'New Locations of Familiar
commands' section of the 'Reference:Locations...' topic.
