Assigning shortcut keys in Word thru Tools->Customize

Earlier I was able to assign shortcut keys to any command thru standard
procedure
Go to Tools->Customize option and in the command tab, select the desired
option and click on 'Keybaord...'
Put the cursor in 'Press new shortcut key' , and click the shortcut key (in
this case Alt+Control+8)
Click on Assign button at bottom. It used to work perfectly fine.

But of late when I do this and click Alt+Control+8 (or any short cut key I
assigned), in stead of executing the command, it comes up with a window
Linked CSS Style Sheets! This happening on any PC and for any command.

Please help!

In the Customize Keyboard dialog, the first command, which will be selected
by default, is CssLinks. No matter what you have selected in the Customize
dialog when you click Keyboard..., the Customize Keyboard dialog opens with
CssLinks selected. You must select the desired command in the Customize
Keyboard dialog before assigning a shortcut key.
