Word 2007 check box

Is there a way to create a form using check boxes where user only needs to
select the box one time for the "X" to appear?
 
This is the way a check box form field works in a document protected for
forms. To create such a form in Word 2007, you will have to work with the
Legacy Forms Tools on the Developer tab. The Developer tab is not displayed
by default; you have to select this option in Office Button | Word Options |

give you an idea of how forms work in earlier versions. There are a few
changes in Word 2007, but the principles are the same.
