I WAS RECENTLY UPGRADED TO WINDOWS XP. SINCE THEN, I FIND THAT IN CERTAIN
DOCUMENTS THAT I PRINT INCLUDING WORD DOCUMENTS AND DOWNLOADS FROM OTHER
APPLICATIONS, THE CHARACTERS PRINT AS THOUGH THEY ARE SHADED -- ESPECIALLY IF
THEY ARE BOLDED. I HAVE TRIED MANY DIFFERENT FONTS AVAILABLE IN WORD 2003
WITH THE SAME RESULT. MY COLLEAGUE WHO HAS NOT UPGRADED AND WHO SHARES THE
SAME PRINTER, IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS.

It sounds like you might need to make an adjustment in "user preferences" for
your printing applications. Be sure that anything with "3-D" effect is
unchecked. Check all of your user preferences, in font settings, printer
applications, and document appearance.
