Word 2003 protected doc cannot be edited in Word 2000

Is there a known problem with editing a protected Word 2003 doc in Word 2000?
We have had 2 users who said they could not edit text. The only protection
added was for Styles.

As I recall, in Word 2000, the only form of protection was that used to
protect a document so that formfields could be used. The alternate forms of
protection available with Word 2003 are not, I believe, backwards
compatible. You would therefore need to unprotect the document in Word 2003
and save it without the protection to be able to edit it in Word 2000.
