Word 2003 Headers and Footers

In 2003, is there a way to turn off the Headers and Footers once they are
turned on in a document? We have a new process that requires us to not use
them since the H/F info will be included when PDF is made.

You can delete text from the header or footer, but once there has ever been
text in a header or footer, you will have an empty paragraph that cannot be
removed. If you want to get back to the pristine state, you'll need to copy
the content of the document (without the final paragraph mark or any section
breaks) and paste it into a new document that has never contained (and whose
template has never contained) header or footer text.
