Word 2003 files missing .doc entension when emailed using Send to

We're having a company wide problem since the June 10th security patches.
When someone tries to email a document as an attachment using Send to Mail
Recipient (as Attachment) the .doc is missing from then end of the file name.

They used to get an attachment with a name of doc.doc and now they get an
attachment named "Document_in_VOS_Portal" with no .doc attachment.

We have Office 2003 and the 2007 file converter pack. The machines are
running XP. XP and Office have all of the latest security patches.

Any ideas?
