Word 2003 started issuing the following error when opening a file: "The
file filename is not available." Where filename is replaced with the
name of the file being opened. After I OK the error message, Word
continues but does not open the file. Then when I quit Word, I get the
message "changes have been made that affect the Global template,
Normal. Do you want to save these changes? I can respond yes and it
does appear to create a new Normal template but I never had a file
open. I've deleted the Normal template in case that is corrupted and
the next time I quit Word, it quietly writes a new Normal template. The
next time I try, I get the "changes have been made that affect Normal"
error again. Anyone have any ideas why the files I try to open are not
available? Could this also have something to do with the overwrite of
the Normal template when exiting? TIA for any suggestions....Dana
