Word 2003 - blank headers

I have a document that has headers that are connected by the "same as
previous" option. The header will run fin and then no longer appear. The
formatting has not changed from page to page. If you toggle field codes, the
formatting is there. I've tried changing font color, reformatting the
header, removing the same as previous and re-entering the
information...nothing works. I am not pulling a blank space into the header
with the formatting. From the code standpoint, everythin looks right. When
I toggle field codes back to text, there is nothing. Any thought?

I've had this problem before and it was suggested that I was picking up a
blank space in the header since I use the insert stylref to format my header.
The problem still exists within the same section that the balance of the
headers appear to be fine.

If you use the StyleRef field and you have manual page breaks before a
heading which is to be picked up by the StyleRef field you will get this
result. This is only one of several reasons for not using such page breaks.
Instead, format the header paragraph (and possibly style) to be page break
before as a part of the paragraph formatting.
