Word 2000 Crashes

All of a sudden, I can't open MS Word and get this error
message:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the applications vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows installer patch package."
My PC is a Dell 8200, Pentium 4 1.7Ghz, 256MB
Any ideas? Thanks! Peter B.
