Wont use cd/dvd drive

My computer will not run an application from cd/dvd nor
will it run anything that uses the cd/dvd drive. It will
begin to start the executeable as normal but then the
executeable just disapears as if windows has terminated it.

i can browse the cd/dvd files as normal just not run an
executeable that uses it :(

anyone got any ideas??

I am having the same problem - if i go to device manager
and select the device it wont let me enable it...it just
says windows was unable to enable the device...for sum
reason with service pack 2 it disabled it and now it wont
work...

any1 fixed this with something yet?
 
no mine is enabled and works but windows wont run anythign
thatuses it.
