Won't stay off the phone

Have XP Pro; have one computer, no network, I'm home
alone. My computer is constantly dialing up the
network. Sometimes the message is "Opening Port", but
that is not always the case. It seems that the computer
thinks I want to dial up or that someone else is here who
wants to dial up. I want to disable this machines
authorization to take dialing-up initiatives except as
autodial for something I've clicked which needs the
connections.
Today, this machine is dialing every 10-15 seconds, and I
can't stop it without disabling the modem.

do you happen to have weather bug in the system , it is a
nasty piece of preinstalled spyware that will not take do
not dial for an answer (will auto launch out of progams to
the systray. go to add/remove programs to kill.or you have
other spyware wanting to call home. try spybot from
safer-networking.org ,download, update ,scan on easy and
also use immunize.

Be patient, they are very busy. But don't hesitate to re-post(in the same
string) if it takes more than a few hours for them to reply.
