Won't revert to default printer

When I change my printer to something other than my default printer(i.e.,
networked color laser printer) to print a document Word will not revert back
to my default printer, even after closing and reopening the program. Any
ideas why and what I can do to make it go back to the default?

If you use Word as your email editor in Outlook, and if you tend
to have Outlook running all the time (maybe minimized on the
Windows task bar), then Word won't actually close when you tell
it to, which is why it remembers your currently selected printer
when you "restart" it.

If you use the method suggested at http://www.gmayor.com/fax_from_word.htm
to switch printers, the default printer will never change no matter what
Outlook does with the background running of Word.

That was the problem, I do keep Outlook open. I will try the method you
provided.
