Won't Reboot after CheckDisk

When I schedule an Error Check (Check Disk) for the next reboot, Windows XP
refuses to reboot. I have to use F8 to bring up the last good configuration
and use that method, or Safe Mode, to get XP booted. It will not perform a
Check Dish using this method, however. Without a scheduled Check Disk, the
system responds normally and booting is not a problem. The only major change
I have made during this time is the downloading of IE Beta. How can I get
back the functionality of this tool?

Since you have a clear cause-and-effect - installing beta software -
then you should remove the beta software. Do *not* remove the beta
software without reading about how to remove it and any other problems
in the IE7 Beta newsgroup.

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general - for IE7 beta

"Beta" means a program that is unfinished and still in the bug-checking
phase. Beta software should never be run on production machines or on
any machine that you are unwilling to completely wipe and start over.
