Won't instal Microsoft Paint

I am using Windows XP and Office 2003.
I noticed that I do not have the Paint program in the accessories section of
my program files.
I have both genuine installation disks but although I think I select the
right component for Paint (using Control Panel, Add Remove components etc.),
it is nowhere to be found. I have even made a search for "mspaint.exe"
without success.
Where am I going wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Paint is a component of Windows - Control Panel -> Add/REmove Programs
-> Add/Remove Windows Components -> Accessories and Utilities [Details
.....] -> Accessoris [Details...] -> tick Paint

Thank for your reply. I did all that and still no Paint program showing
anywhere on my computer. Could some settings somewhere stop it from
installing itself from the Windows XP CD? I cannot reinstall windows
completely as the computer is the one from work, we are on a network and they
told me I might have to use/install another program instead of Microsoft
Paint if this doesn't work.
Thanks for all help. Yappy Box

Hello,

Can you run paint by Start > Run > mspaint.exe? If so then you probably have
MS paint in your system. Try creating a new shortcut as well. Right click on
desktop > New > Shortcut > type in '%SystemRoot%\System32\mspaint.exe' >
give the shortcut a name and click on finish.

If this shortcut works then you can run paint easily... and put the shortcut
wherever you want (such as the start menu etc). If not you can always try
out other programs like paint.net (http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net/) which
feels like the next version of paint.

Hi Rishi

Thanks for your prompt reply. I cannot run Paint as you suggested using the
Start command. I am therefore going to give the paint.net program you
suggested a go and see what happens. Many thanks again.
