wont boot off hard drive

I have a w2k server that just loops thru the post when I try to boot off hd.
it will boot of floppy and CD as long as they are before HD on boot order.
It doesnt even get to the windows boot screen when I boot from HD.

any ideas

This may be off base but you haven't added any hardware recently have you?
The reason I ask is that I have seen this when you add an additional Raid
controller. Sometimes the new Raid controller is setup as the boot device by
default instead of the controller you wish it to be. What kind of server is
it? We experienced this with Compaq servers. You had to hit F9 to go into
the RBSU during boot in order to change your boot controller. Do you see
your controller recognizing your logical drives during POST?

Its a 'white box' home made machine we use just for 1 in-house app. just
boots of the ide. nothing added recently. I was going to try flashing
the bios before any recovery mode actions.
