Won't boot in safe mode

I just installed additional Win XP stuff from the install
disk. I also installed Windows Recovery Console out of
curiousity that produces a menu option at startup.

When I rebooted to see what Windows Recovery Console had
added regarding any startup option, I decided I did not
like having to make a selection at startup and was going
back into Win XP to remove the program. However, it will
boot to see the intitial Windows logo and then abruptly
stop and reboot. It keeps looping back to the OS
selection screen where the new option of Recovery Console
is, so I press F8 to check other boot options. I first
tried Last Config That Worked or whatever...same abrupt
reboot. I ended up trying every option with the same bad
results.

Any ideas? I will probably end up formatting and
reloading.

Thanks for any help.

Did you reset bios not to boot from cd and take disc out.
Just an idea.

Good point. Windows was up and running fine. I (me
being me) can't leave well enough alone and decided to
load ALL of Windows XP additional components. So this
was performed in an XP environment. There is some
corrupt driver being loaded somewhere but I can't get
into XP even in safe mode to check it out or do a system
restore. The boot debugging crashes and I haven't been
able to learn anything using the Recovery Console (one of
the goofy things I had to have). So yes, I made sure
that I am boot to the OS hard drive, but with no success.

Thanks for your help though.

Does anyone know the name and location of a log file that
might reveal the offending driver(s)? Then I could
possibly use Recovery Console to delete it.

Any ideas? I will probably end up formatting and
reloading.
