Won't Boot Correctly

I am working on my son's computer. Even though in the Bios it has the boot
sequence set as #1-HDD and #2-CD ROM, when the computer starts booting up
and searches for the CD and asks for a system disk to continue booting. What
is wrong here?

Hi Jonny,

Does the Bios recognise the HD ? secondly has it got an active partition to
boot from ?
